The Savannah River National Laboratory's Nuclear Materials Management Programs directorate provides life cycle program management and integration of Savannah River Site nuclear materials programs.

These programs include implementation of technologies for the management of surplus plutonium, used nuclear fuel and special isotopes. The programs develops receipt, storage, surveillance, processing, re-use and disposition strategies .

SRNL provides leadership for national and international integration of nuclear materials management, material returns and fissile materials disposition. Key sponsors include the DOE Office of Environmental Management and the DOE-NNSA Office of Material Management and Minimization.

SRNL also manages the Nuclear Materials Management System Plan, which documents the assumptions and operating strategies to manage legacy and surplus nuclear materials, and the Nuclear Materials Management and Disposition Roadmap, which is a formal configuration managed planning tool used to integrate the programs.
