Counterintelligence Office
The primary mission of the Office of Counterintelligence is to protect Department of Energy (DOE) information, personnel and assets from international terrorist activities and from intelligence collection by, or on behalf of, foreign powers or entities. This is accomplished by:
- Providing briefings and debriefings to federal and contractor employees conducting foreign travel or hosting sensitive foreign nationals
- Identifying high-risk personnel and programs which may become targets of foreign or domestic intelligence gathering activities
- Conducting investigations predicated by Counterintelligence/Counterterrorism (CI/CT) concerns
- Providing CI/CT Cyber support to detect, deter, investigate, and neutralize foreign terrorism, espionage, or industrial sponsored intelligence activities targeting DOE assets
- Providing CI/CT awareness training
- Serving as liaison with local, state, and other federal government agencies
