SRNL Awards - July 2008 and Earlier
SRNL personnel - M.H. Tosten, S.L. West, W.R. Kanne, Jr. (retired) and B.J. Cross, authors of the paper entitled "Repair Techniques for Fusion Reactors," have been selected by the American Welding Society as co-recipients of the A. F. Davis Silver Medal Award. This award is given to authors of papers published in the Welding Journal during the previous calendar year that represent the best contributions to the progress of welding. The authors will be honored at a luncheon held in conjunction with the 2008 FABTECH International and AWS Welding Show in Las Vegas in October, 2008. The Water Environmental Association of South Carolina awarded John Young of SRNL the “Crystal Crucible Society” award. This award is in recognition of his significant contributions to success of the Water Environmental Association of South Carolina and his significant contributions to water and wastewater analysis, education, training, certifications and management and promoting innovative laboratory operations. The Water Environmental Association of South Carolina also recognized the Savannah River National Laboratory as an organization which fosters and promotes investments of time and efforts for the purpose of promoting safety, education and professionalism and active employee involvement in the Water Environmental Association of South Carolina.
SRNL's Tony Gouge is part of an interagency team that has been recognized with a Deputy Director for National Intelligence for Analysis (DDNI/A) Distinguished Analysis Award.
Davis Shull and Joe Cordaro of SRNL have been selected for the ISA (global automation organization) Aerospace Industries Division’s Major Charles Bassett Outstanding Paper Award for their paper entitled "Wireless For A Nuclear Facility," presented at last year’s 53rd International Instrumentation Symposium (IIS). Each year, the most outstanding paper is selected and the award presented at the following IIS. They received the award at the 54th IIS.
