Savannah River National Laboratory Named a National Safety Council Industry Leader

AIKEN, S.C. (August 17, 2011) – The National Safety Council announced that Savannah River National Laboratory, operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, has been honored with a 2011 Industry Leader Award. The award is a component of the Council's Safety Motivation and Recognition Awards Program. The award benchmarks outstanding safety achievements among member companies based on self-reported data.

Savannah River National Laboratory is one of 52 organizations honored with the 2011 Industry Leader Award, which recognizes the top 5 percent of NSC members that have qualified for the National Safety Council's 2011 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award. To receive the Industry Leader Award, member companies, units and facilities must have 0 cases and 0 fatalities during the 2010 calendar year, and demonstrate safety performance that is among the best within their North American Industry Classification code.

SRNL was one of 10 Industry Leader Award winners in the Professional, Scientific and Technical Services classification.

The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, charitable, international public service and membership organization educating and influencing people to prevent accidental injuries and deaths.
