WSRC offers educational and research opportunities to K-12 teachers, undergraduates, graduate, and postgraduate students, as well as university faculty, in a variety of assignments.

Using the site’s unique resources and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, interns and participants support research and development activities, engineering, operations, and other site services while gaining knowledge and experience in their field of study.

Eligibility

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a G.P.A. of 2.5 or above
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Paid stipend/remuneration
  • Paid holidays
  • Mileage to and from appointments (Interns who do not have local permanent addresses (within a radius of 50 miles) - other restrictions may apply)

Postgrad and Postdoctoral

  • Reimbursements for relocation expenses

Internship and Participant Appointments
Internship and Participant Appointments are available during the academic year and summer.

Length of Appointments:
Undergraduate Four Years
Post-Bachelor One Year*
Graduate (Masters) Two Years
Postgraduate Two Years
Doctoral Student Three Years
Post-Doctoral Three Years
K-12 Teacher Summer Appt Three months per year
K-12 Teacher Sabbatical One Year
Summer Faculty Three months per year
Faculty Sabbatical One Year
*ORISE Post-Bachelor 2 years

Applicants who apply for the Internship & Faculty Participant Program should choose the appropriate application.

Students attending a college or university in South Carolina should choose the South Carolina University Research Education Foundation (SCUREF) application.

Students attending a college and universities from other than South Carolina should choose the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) applications.
